Chapter 3 Repent and fulfill all righteousness.
John the Baptist, the messenger that makes Jesus’ path straight, is introduced doing his ministry. He has been sent to preach repentance. He accepts the outcasts but warns and rebukes the religious leaders.
Repentance is a gift from God that He sends to His people before Jesus is accepted. People who have the pedigree of religious families often fall into the trappings of relying on their religion instead of the relationship that must be individually lived with God.
Jesus comes to be baptized by John. John resisted, but Jesus said it becomes them that all righteousness be fulfilled. Upon Jesus’ baptism, heaven opened, and the Spirit descended upon Him. Then a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
